To cut to the chase, some photos of a new place I’m staying at in Singapore for this trip. Fairmont Singapore is nice, really nice looking and fit well to my likings.

Pulau Langkawi…

July 28th, 2008 by ajcka

Took a little family trip to Langkawi last week and stayed at The Andaman. Saw in the papers that there was a room rate promo going on at Andaman, coupled with the MAS zero airfare promo, apa lagi? Grab the chance la. Made bookings for the Rainforest room for 4D/3N and also flight from KLIA to Langkawi. My little girl girl took her first maiden flight without qualms. She slept through most of the time on both flights. Ha ha.

There are quite a number of places to visit in Langkawi but then again, we didn’t do much sightseeing since I was caught up with work during my vacation. Tell me about it but that is WORKING LIFE! Other than that, we were also caught up in the room for most part of two days due to the rain. He he.. Bilik mahal (even after 50% off) tapi it didn’t really impress us loh. I believe, we could have gotten better / nicer place at the same price else where. But then again, the customer service was brilliant and the staff were really friendly. Kudos to the staff there.

Some good stuff about Andaman:
1. The resort is well integrated into the rainforest surrounding it. There is even a restaurant (Gulai House) that is partly hidden in the forest. On the complementary ride to the restaurant, I saw a wild boar and its babies running across the path.
2. The beach is privately own and well maintained. Thus it is only available to hotel guest.
3. They have large swimming pools of different depth.
4. Friendly and helpful staff.

Will we go there again? Probably not. If Langkawi again for holidays, then probably we’ll choose some resort near to Pantain Cenang or Pantain Tengah. That’s where all the excitement is and where there is loads of restaurant to choose from.

An extra note for travellers. You will need to rent a car in Langkawi to get around. Local car rental cost from as low as RM50 per day till up to RM200+ per day depending on the model of the car. This is if you rent a car from the local travel companies that is easily available at the airport or jetty. Rental of coz does not include petrol and usually it comes with a near to empty tank. Moving around Langkawi for 4 days will only use about 20 liters of petrol. So, don’t fill up full tank since you won’t need that much.

I had my new Garmin Nuvi GPS wth me on this trip. And I learnt a few things about GPS:
1. It is not necessary that you’ll be able to acquire a satellite at all times.
2. Your GPS should only serve as a guide and not your auto drive.
3. The GPS route may bring you to the right destination BUT it is not necessarily the correct entrance. He he. It took me to the back field of the airport instead of the departure hall. Go figure.
4. Acquiring satellite will take some time, probably up to 10 minutes or so. So, be patient. In the mean time, drive with your eyes on the road and the general direction in your head. Road signs does help.

Nuff said. For photos, go here. Ain’t much for scenes, but my little girl seems to be the main attraction there. :D

Sad to see someone go…

May 19th, 2008 by ajcka

One of my dear friend, JT, has passed away very recently due to a medical condition. Her death caught all of us by surprised and we when really prepared to see her go.

I’ll miss her smiles, her laughter, her nottiness… I’ll miss her.

Dear Lord, I pray that you take good care of her and bring her to heaven for her rest. Amen.

My trip to the States…

May 12th, 2008 by ajcka

Being a father, I don’t seem to have much time for anything else except for my little kid. Ha ha. Ain’t complaining, just stating a fact.. :)

But yet, I managed to squeeze 10 days away from her mid April and took off for a flight to US of A. Business was the main purpose but a side trip won’t hurt. *glee*

The group of 6 took our flight to San Francisco via HK on the 17th. We left KLIA at 9.30AM and landed in SF at about 3.30PM. Long trip but all of us were wide-eyed when we landed. Well, none of us had been to SF before. Jakun la.. apa lagi..

We had four days in SF, and what did we do:
- walk the city around Union Square, Little Italy, Lombard St, Golden Gate Bridge, Pier 39, Lands End, Gilroy Premium Outlets (fuyoh!), Chinatown, Cable Car, Ferry Building, dan banyak lagi.
- we had a minivan with us for 2 days and driving around on the right hand side of the road is a challenge. We had a driver and 3 navigators (to make sure the driver heads the right way and on the right side of the road). Ha ha. No GPS, babe. Steady or what??!

Photos of our adventure? Go here. Some photos are off my friends cameras.

After SF, we were back on our Business agenda. On the 21st, we flew in to Las Vegas for a conference. Been there before and thus nothing extra special happened, with the exception that we visited both the Premium Outlets there, i.e. Chelsea Premium Outlet and Vegas Outlet. Apalagi, continue shopping la. I had to buy another 30" luggage for my trip home. So go figure how interesting is the shopping in US of A at the Outlets.

Photos of Vegas? Go here.

After all the enjoyment, I came back home to a little girl whom can’t recognize her own daddy. She cried when i carried her. Luckily, things turn better a few hours later that night. He he. Probably she’s angry that she didn’t get to go along. *rotfl*

Branded, Pre-owned, Genuine stuffs in KL…

March 9th, 2008 by ajcka

To all my lady friends… and also guys friends that needs to cut down on expensive gifts.. hehe

I came across an article on The Star (8th March) that spoke about a shop called SCOOP. They buy and sell branded, pre-owned and 100% genuine stuffs such as handbags (loads of them), shoes, clothes and accessories. From LV to Gucci to Prada to etc.

So, we when for a look today (hoping to get a bargain deal)… Hehe.. Unfortunately, my wife thinks it is better to pay a little ‘extra’ to get a new one. Darn!

Scoop Scoop’s located at Plaza Damas, Block P. From the basement carpark, take the lift to floor PL. Click the image, click the image…

While there, we also found another shop doing business the same way, albeit lesser in quantity.

Attic_1 Attic House is located diagonally opposite of Scoop on the same office boulevard. Click the image, click the image…

All prices shown are negotiable.. If buying is not on your agenda, why not try selling something to them.. Hehe..

Wind of change in Malaysia…

March 8th, 2008 by ajcka

Stayed up till 2.30AM on 9th March 2008 to follow closely the progress of the ballot counting for the Malaysian 2008 Election. Well, the news is Barisan Nasional stills controls the Government seats with only a "simple majority" win. The ruling coalition party had failed to retain their famous "2/3 majority". This I expect it to be, to a lot of urban and younger generation Malaysians, good news and a fresh change.

The underdogs, aka DAP, PKR and PAS, had managed to wrestle a total 5 states from BN’s control. Those states are Kelantan, Kedah, Penang, Perak and Selangor. I believe, I was pretty surprised that Kedah, Perak and Selangor too fell to the Barisan Alternatif (coalition of Oppositions).

The other surprises that I saw were the lost for Datuk Shahrizhat and Tan Sri Koh Tsu Koon. Non surprises were the lost for MIC top guns (including Datuk Seri Samy Vellu) and PPP President.

In my opinion, the people’s voices rang out LOUD this time round. Barisan Nasional is now fully ‘awake’ and could probably still be reeling from the shock. Hopefully, they will learn from past ‘mistake’ and improve.

On the other hand, let’s also hope that  Barisan Alternatif is able to deliver what they promised and to make a better change for all Malaysians.

Nice and affordable baby clothing…

February 17th, 2008 by ajcka

For those of you whom have babies and lives in Klang Valley, do not miss going to The Brand’s Outlet at Ikano Power Station. You can find all sorts of nice clothing for your kids ranging from newborn to toddlers. All of them very reasonably priced. You’ll find GAP, Ashley, Old Navy and all other popular brand names there for your picking.

We’ve been there twice and both times we can’t stop ourselves from picking up more clothing for Chloe. He he.

Just did a search and found this lady blogging about the same. Go here for her blog.
