Another day trip to SG…

Wednesday, November 30th, 2005

Travelling a day trips to neighbouring countries can be tiring. Got to wake up very early in the morning and leave home like at 5.30AM to reach the KLIA for check-in. Sigh, during normal workdays, I get to wake up like 7.30AM. The additional few hours does do wonders for me.. Hehe.

You know M’sian immigration has those auto gates for M’sian passport holders? Well, I saw something funny on my way back today. There was this old lady getting into the check zone and she inserted her passport into the holder (as per guided by relatives). During passport scanning, remember the part where we have to imprint our thumb on the biometric scanner? Well, the immigration officer was telling her, "Jari! Jari!". The next thing I know, she was giving the officer a thumbs up (ala Kacang Cap Jari). I just can’t stop grinning and almost burst out laughing when I had to go thru those autogates with the old lady beside me. HA HA HA!!

SQ stewardess are definitely better looking than MH. :D

Returning home…

Welcome home to myself. Been out to Bandar Seri Begawan for an overnight stay. Attended to some business meetings with some kind people over in the slow moving city of Brunei Darussalam. No traffic jam, no night life, no alcohol in public, and no internet access at the hotel I stayed in. But, there are some wonderful things in Brunei, here is the list:
1. Cheap cars (BMW X5 I heard going for B$110K, Lexus 300 for B$67K).
2. Petrol at about 55 cents per litre.
3. Roadtax at B$2.25 per 100CC.
4. No night life aka entertainment means more savings you’ll have.
5. Jerudong Theme Park, albeit chargeable entrance now (minimal) and all to yourself. Cause there ain’t many people around to fight with you for a ride.
6. Broad and well lit highway.
7. No income tax.
8. If you’re salary bracket is low, HRH Sultan of Brunei will offer you a house for a very minimal rental charge (about B$100+). After a number of years of rental, the house is then yours.
9. A royal family than takes care of the well-being of its citizens.
10. If you’re citizen and working as public servant, all medical expenses (in and out of Brunei) is paid for by HRH Sultan of Brunei till you’re cured.

BTW, what I’ve listed above is told to me by an acquintance. In short, I got no proof le but it sounds good and probably true. So, anyone for working in Brunei?
