Gong Hay Fatt Choy…

Thursday, January 26th, 2006

Time again for the firecrackers to be lighted up, mandarin oranges to be passed around, houses deck in red, folks walking around in new clothes and wishing everyone "Gong Hay Fatt Choy".. And of course for the singles, the collection of ANG POWs.. For the kids, this is like bonus pay out time.. :D

For this year inparticular, Chinese New Year falls on 29th January 2006. And along in that single week we have two extra public holidays (for those in Kuala Lumpur), i.e. Awal Muharam (31st Jan) and Federal Territory Day (1st Feb). With all the replacement leave, most of the offices will be off for a whole week (getting the staff to take an annual leave for 3rd Feb). A total of 9 days stretch.

For those whom is working out of KL, then we’ll be back to work on 2nd Feb. Unless, you can spare two days annual leave for the same 9 days stretch as above. Ha ha. I’ll be back to work since I’m keeping my A/L for something else.

The exodus of traffic out of KL is worth another mentioned. Most of the KL citizen will be heading back hometown and thus leaving the metropolitan as bare as it can be. Driving in KL will be a zip since most roads will be clear. Sigh, and all the small town roads will then be clogged with people and traffic.

Gambling.. A popular chinese culture.. Where got New Year without gambling wan? He he.. So, roll up your sleeves and bring out the cards, mahjong tiles and your money.. Oh ya, wish me luck ya.. Had me first game last nite, well, the result is good. He he.

Ok. time to cut it and pack for work. So, GONG HAY FATT CHOY and be careful on the road.

The expectation…

Recently in one of our state of business meeting, our country manager was informing us that we need to overachieve this quarter. And along came the phrase, "make history or be history".. Serious or not, it doesn’t matter. But that single phrase says a lot. Ha ha.

On another note, KL’s traffic has been hell for the past week, both in the morning and evening rush hour. Make sure you add some extra 15 or 30 minutes to your trip, wherever you’re heading.

New Year Fireworks…

Monday, January 9th, 2006

Happy New Year 2006.. albeit a little late.. hehehe..

Was at Ikano Power Center for the fireworks and concert last 31 December 2005 at 11PM. The crowd was okay (unlike those in KLCC park - been there for two years and decided not to go thr and cramp into the train like sardines). Ample walking space at Ikano and the best is that you can breathe comfortably (without smelling some one elses BO, eewwwww).

We waited like half and hour before the "bang bang in the sky" started.
And for a whole 10 to 12 minutes, I was like snapping and snapping
shots after shots of the colourful flashes. Darn tired le the hands. :) What to do, no exercise punya orang.

The bad side of it all, is the drive home. Since everybody like left the place all at the same time, the road was fully jammed up la. Next time, must ride a bike there (provided my GF allows me to get one)..

Ok nuff said. The photos are here .

My year end trip…

Sunday, January 8th, 2006

Helo everybody.. It’s me again. Been to Kota Kinabalu for a short trip during xmas 05. Had a good trip and enjoy my stay there with food, food and food. Seafood there is very fresh and the prawns there are huge. I mean, really HUGE.

Had a treat by Ken’s dad at a seafood restaurant called DOWFISH in Penampang (about 10 minutes from KK city). Good food and finger licking good. Eight dishes (including fruits and dessert) costs us RM230 for 6 pax. Eat until cannot move la.

Other than seafood, some other things me friend Ken brought me too are: WOH TIP (aka Gyoza), Deep Fried Spring Chicken and Dim Sum (Taman Hilltop area).

On top of all that, there are a few islands off KK. There are boat rides out to them every 30 minutes from KK (the one I took is from Beach Bum jetty, near to Shangri-la Tanjung Aru). I had a night’s stay at Pulau Manukan and found it relaxing. There is nothing much to do on the island except to lay back and relax. So make sure you bring your book, mat, and drinks.

Tought of doing some diving over there but it didn’t happened. Diving is about RM250 for two dives (inclusive of marine park fees, about RM20).

With that, over and out.
