Health Check
Wednesday, September 20th, 2006Last Friday, I went for my first health check in my life. Was conducted professionally at Institut Jantung Negara starting from 8.00AM to about 11.30AM. There was this nice PR lady called Shima that brought us around our rounds.
It all started with our registration and payment (spent close to RM700 for a complete check, the biasa package cost about RM500). Once done, we were brought to have our urine and blood samples taken for analysis (we were told to be on strict water diet after 10PM the previous night). Once done, they brought us to a room to have breakfast. Was expecting Nasi Lemak but then only got a curry sardine bun, cream puff, nata de coco and milo. Once done (10 minutes given), we were ushered to the next round to check. This time it is ECG. At ECG, we didn’t do anything with the exception of laying on a bed and getting probes stuck everywhere on my body. That only took like 5 minutes (well, was about to fall asleep
).
After ECG, next comes the "blowing test". Here weight and height were taken first. Once done, we were told our BMI. Mine is 3.6KG underweight. He he. After that, the blowing test is conducted. Your are given a measuring device and you have to blow HARD and LONG into it. I managed to do poorly here and was given a "low" average results. Could probably because I have a small lung defect. Ha ha. Asked doctor at the end, and he says nothing is wrong with it, just a defect.
Wait, forgot that Chest X-ray is taken somewhere in between ECG and Lung Test.
Next comes the final test, the Treadmill Stress Test. In this test, you need to starting walking on a threadmill for (maybe) a duration of like 12 minutes. In each 3 minute segment, the threadmill speed increases and your walk increases. I managed to only lasts 11 minutes before screaming "penat, penat". ha ha.
Alas, the tests are all done and we were ushered to the consulting area where we wait for the final results. After waiting for 15 minutes, the doctor called me in and gave me the overall. In short, I’ve got very high cholesterol level (6.x mmol/L) and a .1 above normal Uric Acid ratings. As for the rest, I’m CLEAN or OK.
So, got to watch out the food I consume and get more exercise (yeah right!).
