My birthday…

Wednesday, December 27th, 2006

Bday_card_2006 Celebrated my birthday for the first time together with my entire family in KL last year. Even my little brother was around and we had some fun together.

Brought my nephews (the two little devils) to Sunway Lagoon on the 23rd and had a splashing time (not fogetting the sun burn too). Later that night we had some fun with a family get together and BBQ at my sister’s in north KL.

The card shown on the left is my very own birthday card from Ms Diana Jones. Thank you my dear friend. :D

To all my friends and blog visitors, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2007. May you have another joyous year in 2007 and may your family and loved ones be blessed.

Another year is coming to an end, another year’s resolution gone with the wind, another "1" added to your age, another bunch of friends found, another episod of tears / joy.. Keep this all in mind for next year will never be the same.

Oh ya, time flies too! Count your blessings and forget your sorrows… Amen.

Joy to the world…We wish you a merry x’mas *3, and a Happy New Year!

Cameron Highland..

Thursday, December 21st, 2006

I had the opportunity to go lunch with a partner, whom hails from Cameron Highland. We were talking about Cameron Highland and how it is a tourist destination and all. She actually revealed a few surprising facts that most of us are unaware of. See below:
1. Delicious sweet corn - most of the corns sold in the shops are usually imported from Thailand and sold in packs instead of being planted and harvested in Cameron Highland. Have a look at the fine prints the next time. There are indeed very delicious sweet corn in Cameron Highland but this is very limited (due to low price of crops).
2. Sweet potatoes - alas this is not Cameron Highland planted. It originates from Indonesia via Port Klang.
3. Roses sold at road side shops - are usually grade B and C. The quality of this flowers cannot be compared to those packed for commercial sales and export.
4. Cameron Highland is larger than Genting Highland - they have for example three times more schools compared to GH.
5. Gunung Brinchang is good to watch the sunrise at about 6AM. But, you need to have a four wheel drive or scrambler to get to the peak. The road is steep and may be to rough on normal sedan cars.
6. In Cameron Highland, some house does not even own a fan.
7. During holiday seasons, houses in Cameron sometimes may not have enough tap water supply (since the number of people / tourist increase 3 to 4 folds) and thus they usually have large water containers to store tap water.

I have no actual facts to validate the above but it was something shared and discussed; but somehow I find the story interesting.

Short holiday away from KL…

Sunday, December 17th, 2006

Couldn’t figure out what to do in KL last weekend, so we decided to take a trip down to Port Dickson for an out of town experience. Ha ha. Actually, it was my missus that wanted to check out the new resort called The Legend Water Chalets.

Being so close to year end and right smack in the middle of shool holidays (both MY and SG), it was pretty difficult to get a room anywhere in Malaysia’s top holiday destinations. FYI, I’ve tried booking 3 room apartment suites across PD, Cameron, Bukit Tinggi, Malacca for Christmas weekend and everything seems to be fully booked. :(

Since we only needed a hotel room last Saturday, and with lady luck smiling down on us, we managed to get one of their Deluxe Water Chalets. Room rates comes with breakfast for 2 adults. Additional headcount will incur additional breakfast charges (like it or not).

The room was tastefully done up, clean, spacious, and the service was pretty good. There is nothing much to shout out on hotel facility though. Ratings out of 5, I’ll give it a 3 half. He he.

Finally, not forgetting the photos photos photos.

PS: I’ve got another short holiday suggestion from an old friend, OJL. She suggested this back-to -nature place called Sekeping Serendah Retreat. Go checkout their photos of their Glass Hut. Nice.

Blogged vs Blogger..

Sunday, December 10th, 2006

Found this short article by Adrian Christopher in Cleo Malaysia December 2006. Simple and straight to the point with regards to your rights as a Blogger or a Visitor who left a comment. I’ve included the main gist from the article here below.

Point 1
"The bottom line is that cyberspace is ruled by the same laws that govern the realspace world, including copyright, banned material and yes, defamation".

Point 2
If someone sets up a blog to bitch about something without any basis / evidence, then he is committing slander. "Slander is only slander when the allegation is NOT true".

Point 3
A visitor leaving a slanderous comment on a blog, is responsible for the said comment and NOT the blogger. The blogger is however obligated to remove the slanderous comment (if pointed out to him/her).

Conclusion
Be smart and responsible when blogging. :D
