Took leave on the weekend prior to Labour Day / Wesak holidays and took to the road to Pulau Gemia (Gems Island) off the coast of Trengganu. Since we were heading to Marang, we stopped by Kuala Trengganu to pay my aunty a visit (get to park my car there and thus save of parking fee, he he).

Driving over to KT started on th 28th of April at 0030 hours. And I managed to get the four of us to KT by 0600 hours. Took the Karak highway from KL to Kuantan and from there followed the coastal road all the way to KT. had to wake my aunty up in the wee hours of the morning to get her to direct us to her house. Bila sampai sahaja rumahnya, kita pun berdengkur la for a few hours.

Woke up at 9.30AM and then started out for breakfast. We had the normal hawker food la except that we were introduce to the small kaya buns of KT. Yum yum.

Next stop after breakfast was the Marang jetty and it took us about 30 minutes drive to get there from KT. Unload the bags from the car and off we go on the speed boat for a 10 minutes ride to Pulau Gemia. It was drizzling that morning and by the time we reach the island, semua orang separuh basah la. Ha ha but it was fun.

We had a nice chalet facing the sea and the interior of the room were great (check the photos below). We spend 4D/3N on the said island and spent most of our time on the beach. Since the island is small, it take some planning to ensure that you bring enuff games to spend your time there. For a diver like me, it doesn’t have much to offer as compared to the other bigger islands.

On leaving Gemia, we spent a few hours touring KT town and market place. Here we tried out turtle eggs with help from my aunty and uncle. It taste pretty good. Kinda like salted eggs and you’ve got to take it when it is still warm else it will stink. BTW, turtle eggs won’t hardened when it is cooked. On how to eat it, you’ve got to tear a small slit on the shell and suck the content out of it. Slurpy!

On the way back to KL, we stopped by Kemaman and had dinner. Bagus la itu restoran Kemaman Stuff Crab. Got three restaurants in a row but all of them serves the stuffed crab / ketam bungkus. It is a must try. The other dishes were pretty delicious and tasty as well. So, stopping by Kemaman was worth it.

End of story… ta ta.
