Bunga Api part III… MIFC 2007

Sunday, August 26th, 2007

Italy was up and showing what they were capable of last Saturday night, 25th August 2007. And the area around Putrajaya Convention Center was bustling with activities, people and cars. It’s like all a big funfair were everyone turn up with their family in tow to see the night sky come to light. You can imagine the jam going into and out of Putrajaya then. I think we had more crowd this time round compared to the first night.

This time round, we didn’t get to go to the location that we wanted for photo shooting. Was directed by the traffic police to turn and turn until we ended up about 300 meters back from day 1 (location where I took the shots for Malaysia’s turn). With my standard kit lens, there is nothing much that I can do except to zoom in the maximum and shoot.

From where we were sitting, Italy did try to do a good attempt at the competition but the wind was not in their favour (or was it ours). Towards the end (the grand finale) everything was choked in smoke and the fireworks was barely visible then. Sigh..

Bunga Api part II…

Attended last night’s fireworks display at Putrajaya Convention Center. This time round, we went to the opposite site of the bridge and had a much better location as compared to day 1.

Bunga Api…

Monday, August 20th, 2007

One of the highlights of Visit Malaysia Year 2007 and the 50th Merdeka celebration is the Malaysian International Fireworks Competition 2007 or MIFC2007. We will have nine days of fireworks display at Putrajaya Convention Center (PCC). Loads of opportunity to hone one’s skill in taking night photography. Not easy I tell you..

Malaysia’s team started with a 20 minutes display on the 18th. Australia is next on the 22nd, Italy on the 25th, Japan on the 30th and Canada on the 2nd Sept. For the rest of the nights, they will have 5 to 10 minutes fireworks display. For full schedule go here.

For view of some shots, I took on the opening day, go here.

Been to Conrad Hotel multiple times but this is the first were I get to be charged a higher room rate and then enjoy the Executive floor’s facilities. Since I’m here might as well I take some pictures to share of the 31st floor.

They provide complimentary wifi access 1 hour each day, free drinks, and some snacks during tea and etc. Breakfast is inclusive as well.
