Mini CHANG….

Friday, September 28th, 2007

Wifey and me are expecting our first little baby "girl" by early next year. Who knows, the baby may decide to come out earlier and join in daddy’s birthday celebration too. Then we can have two cakes and two candle blowing sessions. Mommy thinks she can save money here but no way man.

Anyway, for the photos go here.

Birthday handbouquet…

Friday, September 28th, 2007

A colleague of mine had two handbouquets today for her birthday. Happy birthday JK (if you ever did read this). He he.

Anyway, as usual, when there is a lovely bloom, Andrew cannot resist the need to take some shots. Like I told EE (another colleague), taking flower shot is easier than people. With flowers, you can position them however you want for a good shot. With people, they dictate the way they wanna move around. Ha ha.

Ok for the photo shots, go here. Lovely, just pure lovely.

Heard of this funny SMS (text message) experience between two of me frens a couple of months back. Tot of sharing it. The text shown may not be the actual but the gist of it is there.

Text Sender: "Help! My notebook is making this LOVE sound le."
Text Responder: "Your mouse must be making love to your notebook."

Text Sender: <angry and start scolding the responder> $@!%&#@
Text Responder: <showing the actual text to sender> What you want me to say wor???
Text Sender and Responder: Ha ha ha ha ha

Lesson to learn from this episode - Be careful when using the T9 dictionary on your mobile during text. LOUD could turn into LOVE easily.

The end.. they lived happily ever after…

Wedding Photographer wannabe…

Sunday, September 23rd, 2007

Had the chance to be part of AT and KK’s
Chinese customary wedding last Saturday and brought my Nikon along with
me. Apa lagi.. part time wedding photographer la.. He he.. Since this
is gonna be my first event, will try my best.. Not easy to take people
in motion shots, especially when the crowd tends to group together
tightly.

The whole process starts with AT using Berjaya Time Square Hotel as her bridal home (since her actual one is in Johor) and KK has to drive over from Kepong to so-called pick her up (we use to hear of people kidnapping the bride but we tend to be more civilized now). He he.

At the hotel itself, KK  first of all had to go thru three doors, ‘bargaining’ with the keepers for access. Ang pows were flowing and the keepers where relentless in their pursuit for more. Ha ha. Rule of thumb (from what I had learnt previously), pack more ang pows with smaller denominations but do have some big ones handy. Next rule, find out the layout of their plans and plan a mole within the ‘bride sister’s’ community. He he.

After finally waiting for about 20 minutes, KK managed to get thru all three and into the room where his bride awaits. It is not over yet, he has a final mission still, find the shoes of her beloved and put them on for her. The pair of heels were hidden somewhere in the room. Another 15 minutes went by before both shoes where found.
Then and only then were they able to leave the room and present tea to AT’s mother. They also had to perform the play-acting role of "bringing the bride home", with a return walk in the hotel corridors.

All this done, we left Times Square for Kepong.

At Kepong, the entourage upon reaching KK’s house, blared their horns.. Honk Honk honk. Then the bride and groom were lead into the house and only then the family came down and see her (KK’s family members were to only come out when the bride is in the house). This was then followed closely by prayers to the Gods and ancestors.
With the prayers completed, the next session that followed were the tea ceremony for KK’s family members.. This took sometime since KK had loads of uncles and aunties.

By 2.30PM, it was all done with and the next thing on the agenda is the dinner in Puchong at 7.00PM.

Hoe and Phoebe’s ROM…

Friday, September 14th, 2007

On Sept 13th in the year of the Lord 2007, we attended the  marriage registration of my dear brother in law, Yip Hoe and his long time girlfriend, Phoebe. It was a joyous occasion which we all had been patiently waiting for since ages ago. And finally, this couple sealed their love in a marriage at Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara (National Registration Department) in Sri Petaling.

The dates for the customary Chinese wedding ceremony and wedding banquet is yet to be announced. For photos, go here.

Treasure Hunt to Tanah Tinggi Cameron…

Wednesday, September 12th, 2007

Last weekend, I took part in a fun filled Treasure Hunting trip from Kelana Jaya to Simpang Pulai. It was organized by Ingram Micro for their resellers and my company’s team was invited. The last trip we won the first prize for vendor category and we had to maintain the standing this time round.

No doubt that the hunt ends at Simpang Pulai but accommodation and dinner was held at Equitorial Cameron Highland.

Trip as usual started with breakfast provided at Kelana Jaya Seafood Reataurant, followed by the hunt briefing at 7.30AM. By 7.45AM, all of the cars were gearing up to go - vroom vroom. One by one we were flagged off and then the race begun.

From Kelana Jaya, our first destination was Damansara Uptown. Here we went round 1 round looking for the first batch of questions. After Uptown, next destination was Rawang town, then Bidor, then etc until we reach Simpang Pulai. The time provided was from 8AM to 3PM but we reached the end destination by 2PM. Cheh wah.. terror hor..

As for the treasures, we had to find MENTOS and Ribena. Ain’t gonna share the questions with you but it was a good trip. Go look for Fuad from "Take a Break", if you wanna organize one on your own.

As usual for the trip pictures, go here

MIFC Grand Finale… Part V…

Monday, September 3rd, 2007

The final finally came and gone, all 30 minutes of fireworks. Canada did a good job and from a photographer’s perspective, the wind was in their favour. Some of my nicest shots were taken last night. Go here to see for yourself.

The night started with a drizzle at about 7pm and we left home for Putrajaya at close to 8pm. The journey was quick and the roads were clear. Going back to the same spot where we saw Japan 3 nights ago, we even had time to drive around looking for a good parking space. He he.

The drizzle stopped at about 9.15pm and we were out of the car and walking over to the edge of the lake. Setup our tripods, check the camera and zoom, test a few shots, then we sat back and waited for 10PM.

10PM came and went, fireworks were abundant, high shots, low shots, colourful ones, white ones and even a burning bridge. By the time it was over, my back was aching from bending over and I just wanna sit down. He he. Old liow la. Next time, got to be smart enough to position the tripod for a sitting down position. Lesson learnt.

Journey back home was pretty OK. Took us only 1 hour and 15 minutes to get home. Better than the 2 hour trip I had to endure 3 nights ago.

Oh ya, last note, I’m gonna stay away from fireworks for a moment. Too many of them liow in my album and I’m kinda tired trimming and editing firework shots over and over. He he.

Fireworks part IV… Japan

Saturday, September 1st, 2007

Malaysia’s 50th National Day started off with shouts of Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka!, followed by the singing of the Negaraku sharp at midnight on the of the 30th of August 2007. Soon after, the night sky at Putrajaya was filled with bangs and bright colourful lights. The Japan’s turn for the MIFC2007 has begun.

Twenty minutes of pure delight and at the end of it, I think they have won the competition hands down. Albeit it may be too early to declare the winner since the last country, Canada, have yet to show their stuff. And tonight’s the final night. It is the grand finale and we’re scheduled to be there by the road side of Putrajaya to enjoy the show and take some wonderful pictures.

For the shots of Japan’s beautiful work, go here.
